Forces of Geek Covers the New ‘I Am Tom Cummins’ EP
Last year we profiled I Am Tom Cummins’ previous album, so in the spirit of a Holiday tradition, check out I Am Tom Cummins, Too! These recordings again feature the song stylings of Tom Cummins & the studio and musical wizardry of Kraig Jordan, recorded, arranged, mixed & mastered at his Plan of a Boy in Providence, RI. Writing on ukulele, Tom continues musing on animals, holidays, and the human condition. Influences include Todd Rundgren, Elvis Costello, Jim Henson, and the early 1980’s.
It’s available on CD or digital download and will make you smile. And you can never have too many of those.

On “Moving Misfortune,” Everett Bros. Moving Company gently kick out the jams with shadings of Americana, post-punk pop, country soul, blues, and a hint of Kurt Weill. Should appeal equally to fans of Tom Petty, Nick Cave, or the Meat Puppets (whose sublime “Up On The Sun” is covered on this album).

Remember a time when you would sit on the floor, put your headphones on and listen to a record from start to finish? It took you to a place, perhaps under a sonic wave of angst, romance, sadness, or happiness. With new technology, it took the 45, or later the cassette singles too far, and we started cherry picking our favorite songs off these records. We were just choosing snapshots from a vacation rather than enjoying the entire experience.
In Lieu of Flowers is a throwback to the Long Playing Format. The LP. It touches on mortality, struggle, aging, suicide and ultimately death. At first it may seem as an arduous listen but pays off in the end as you will be taken to a different place. Like a movie or a book, or like the LP that you might have rolled your first cigarette on.
In Lieu of Flowers will not be available digitally. It will not be on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Google Play etc. It is only available on CD. Some have said that I am crazy for rolling out a project that took me over 3 years to write and record. The answer, of course I am, I am an artist. Enjoy the trip and thank you for listening.

Motif Magazine reviews the new Jets Can’t Land EP
Jets Can’t Land – You Can’t Linger On (75orLess Records)
On their debut EP, You Can’t Linger On, Jets Can’t Land shoots up a hefty dose of ’90s indie rock fueled by feedback and flannel. The opening, “A 70’s Photograph,” is like what would happen if Camper Van Beethoven and Pavement got drunk in a practice space in Olneyville and decided to cut an album. On “Wasted,” Jets Can’t Land remind me a little of ’90s grunge rockers Seaweed with the tune’s hammer drop chorus. “The Falling Star” sounds like a tune Love and Rockets would write, but covered by Built to Spill. My favorite tune of the bunch is the closing jam, “I Can’t Do That Dave,” because it is a precisely crafted mess of ragged glory. I’d recommend You Can’t Linger On for that crazy uncle still wearing flannel as well as anyone still searching for Crazy Horse-inspired indie guitar swing.
