Jeff the Postman – The Postman Speaks
75OL-163 Jeff the Postman – The Postman Speaks CD
$7.00 S&H Included
Jeff the Postman, ‘The Postman Speaks’ is a collaboration between Prescott Cronin and the poet Jeff the Postman. The words on this recording were written by Jeff the Postman. The entire process from inspiration, conception, practice, to production occurred in 02885, the smallest town, in the smallest county, in the smallest state in the U.S.A. Jeff the Postman offers his eternal thanks to all his neighbors who let him practice his delivery. This project was tracked entirely on an iPhone, using samples and live instruments, at 90 Union, except for “As a Guest,” which was recorded in the elevator at Parker Mills in Warren, RI. ‘The Postman Speaks’ is an epic work that exemplifies what can be done these days with small equipment and conviction. Twenty two tracks.

It’s been a decade since Bob Kendall released his debut solo record “Enough is Enough” on his own Kentonerecords label. The founding member of the bands Lifeboat, The Blood Oranges, The Brothers Kendall, and The Labor Pool has finally let go of this collection of songs written, self-produced and recorded in his backyard shed. The title track, “Midnight Flower” features vocals by Tanya Donelly. (Belly, Throwing Muses, The Breeders) “Donelly adds a certain visceral, seventh sense – and conjures up weary-wise tones of Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris” (Influenza). Muses drummer, David Narcizo, once again provides his trademark style of hypnotic rhythms throughout the record. Kendall’s songs have been described as “telling tales of recrimination and self-deception”. Song styles and influences are reminiscent of Jeff Tweedy, Teenage Fan Club, Tom Petty, Ian Hunter, The Velvet Underground and Gram Parsons. Mixed and fixed by Kraig Jordan and mastered by Pete Weiss at Verdant Studios.

Kill Kill Kill is the solo project of Los Angeles-based musician Eric Stiner. A member of Boy/Girl, Kill Kill Kill will release 12 albums in 12 months from June 2008-June 2009. All of the releases have an environmentally conscience theme and the releases are made with recyclable materials. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Nature Conservancy in support of the mission behind the Kyoto Protocol. Designing and crafting his own “homemade” effects pedals and modified guitars and amplifiers, they mix the psychedelia of Acid Mothers Temple and the riff laden moxie of the Melvins. Not quite an EP, the five tracks contain over forty three minutes of music including an exclusive remix unavailable anywhere else.

It is a sure thing that Hank Sinatra Jr. will one day be a star. Until then, we are lucky enough to be able to pay $7 for his unreal geniusnessosity and be practically assured to get in to any of his shows without them selling out. “Grow A Pear” was performed, recorded, mixed, marstered, mustied and marbled by Hank. With reggae jams, rock anthems, club hits, sea shantys and more, this album proves the genre defying act worthy. 2012 will probably, most likely be the year that the last person, who has not heard of Hank Sinatra Jr., will die. So get hip, be yourself and do what I say… buy Hank Sinatra Jr.’s “Grow A Pear” while you still can.

Hula Hoop where spawned from the same Ohio River water as Rodan, Palace Bros, Evergreen, King Kong and other Louisville contemporaries, but with a decidedly less obvious rock-ist stance due to their combined influences. After dozens of releases and two well received Peel sessions, bassist Rachel Grimes left to pursue the musical collective “Rachel’s” full time. This album contains songs written & recorded after her departure with the powerhouse trio of Eric Stoess (Hula Boy), Chuck Geisler and Stephen “Monkey Boy” Jones. A stellar collection of tasty Americana pop morsels mined from the musical coal of Echo & the Bunnymen, New Zealand pop/rock, Television, & The Fall.
Beautiful letter-pressed cover by Hound Dog Press. Edition of 150 copies split between 75orLess and 555 Records. All Vinyl LP’s also contains free download code.
