Mark Cutler – Dreamland
75OL-182 Mark Cutler – Dreamland CD
$10.00 S&H Included
Digital download is available here
Mark Cutler’s new record Dreamland is a collection of songs recorded in a little room in his little house and features some guest appearances by his good friends Jim Berger, Rick Couto, Richard Reed and Bob Kirkman. It’s an intimate record that you might enjoy with headphones but feel free to blast the stereo. It’s also the first record he’s done since he quit his day job to pursue a life outside of the rat race. Dreamland features songs about every day life and every night life and the times in between.
Rhode Island guitar slinger/songwriter Mark Cutler’s latest release is called “Dreamland”. It’s an apt title for the followup to last year’s critically acclaimed and award winning “Sweet Pain” (both available from 75orLess, iTunes, etc.). Along with sparse touches of accompaniment from his excellent live band The Men of Great Courage, MC plays most of the instruments himself this time around. Recorded at his home studio- just down the hall from his bedroom- dreamlike qualities abound, in the title cut, in songs like “I’ll Play For You”, “Soul Flame” and “You’re Gonna Need My Help”, to name but four. Like the mixed memories and visions of wonderful recurring dreams you wish you’d have more often, instruments, lyrics, harmonies and riffs intermingle in ways both familiar and surprising. And, like a dream you can’t quite get out of your head all day, the rustic surrealism of this “Dreamland” will stay with you long after your ear buds are slipped into a pocket.- DR
CD is limited to 200 numbered, brown and white jackets with screen print design

Dan Baker was living in Chelsea MA, during the recording of his new record. A small city on the outskirts of Boston, Baker describes the city as “A place littered with factories, oil tanks, and pot holes… surrounded by great heaps of salt and scrap metal”. The city of Chelsea, luckily for Baker, is also where 1867 Recording Studio is located. A former Masonic Temple. The studio boasts 60 foot vaulted ceilings and walls still equipped with their masonic images and moldings. The result is Dan Baker’s third record, “Pistol in my Pocket”. A record that finds Baker more matured and in command of his craft. Songs of betrayal and revenge, as well as songs of love-lost and love-regained. For fans of dark rural blues, Okkervil River, Magnolia Electric Co., Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen.

“Blottered” is a 10 track collection of pounding garage rock from The Atomic Buddha. Each of these songs is an unapologetic mash of raucous guitars, bass, drums and vocals careening from hallucinogenic depths to the sharp ends of accusation. Along the way are some raw psychedelic blasts (I’m So High, Fading Fast) and some pile driving rock with the energy of The Who (Ginger Baker’s Nightmare, You’re Not In Reach). It all ends with “The Atomic Buddha” an 11 minute guitar freak out-not for the timid!
Limited to 100 copies on brown jackets, 25 copies on white jackets.
All copies bought through the label webpage will ship with a link for a digital download of nine demo songs from the sessions.

Has it really been two years since the last full-length release from this fever dream of a band? That’s what the calendar tells us, but we haven’t really been sure of anything since the last dose of quinine. Following in the footsteps of Everything Odder Than Everything Else, Fictional Syntax finds Crotchthrottle sinking even further into the morass that is “structured” music, embracing things like melody, rhythm, and occasionally even intelligible vocals. They still remain totally obtuse on the genre front, swerving from quasi-electronic shenanigans to fuzzy freakouts, sometimes within the same song. When asked “What the hell were you thinking?” by management, the band refused to elaborate in any legally binding format.
The first 25 copies sold will get a special gift, hand packaged by the band.

Want to know what 2 or 3 drunk folks usually endure at a Suicide Bill show? Want to know why the hell Bill won a singer/songwriter award in the Providence Phoenix? “Suicide Comes Alive!” answers all the big questions and raises a few new ones. Eleven new live and semi-alive songs featuring Bill and his guitar with backup shouts and percussion from The Liquors make up their 5th record. Bill’s brand of loud-acoustic/alt. rock has never been stronger than it is here. Three of the songs also feature great guitar and harmony-vocal work from the most elusive member of the Liquors, Ray Pruitt. Once again, Suicide and company make a record that sounds good cranked up in your car while you deliver stuff — probably pizza or newspapers. Have fun on your route.
