“Drunkard’s Walk” is Broadcaster’s debut release. Features former members of the band Killing Pablo. A mix of 80s/90s indie rock with 70s classic rock and some psychedelic and surf-rock influences. Think Built to Spill if the Who gave them a polite but stern kick in the ass. Recorded at Forest/City Studios in Portland, ME with engineer Ron Harrity, mastered at Flavorlab Studio by Weston Fonger.

Six Star General releases their fifth album of all new material and seventh album overall. Recorded over two days in November with Scott Rancourt (The Masons, The diePods) at Summing Point Studios in Newport, half of the album had been recorded back in August but the masters went missing. Rather than focus on retrieving on the lost recordings, the band decided to re-record all the songs. Eleven tracks, including one instrumental and a cover of Cat Power’s “Metal Heart”. Influences include The Minutemen, Naked Raygun and Dinosaur Jr.

Garage Sale Picasso is an indie pop band from Providence and Worcester/central MA. They have a powerful female front, layering vocals on top of a sound-scape of guitars, melodic bass, and energetic drums. GSP has been described as being “richly toned” and having an “inherent motion,” seasoned with a deliberate undercurrent of chaos. They have been compared to Smashing Pumpkins and Guided by Voices.
Maria Monk is a rock band from Providence, RI. This split EP with Garage Sale Picasso is the band’s debut release. Diamond Smile references Dinosaur Jr’s guitar-driven attack, while Middle Man blends introspective and provocative lyrics with a loud punk rock drive. Live show favorite Ender’s Game delivers a fast, raucous and angsty performance. Cave In closes Maria Monk’s half of the EP with epic sounds and lyrics, conjuring vast space operas.

With reggae jams, rock anthems, club hits, sea shantys and more, this album proves the genre defying act worthy. 2012 will probably, most likely be the year that the last person, who has not heard of Hank Sinatra Jr., will die. MW Ensemble is a New York based musical project comprised of Nancy Wheeler and Mike Winters. In 2008 they released their first EP entitled ‘Apartment or Nepal‘. In 2010 and 2011 MW Ensemble released two singles: ‘Complementation and shifts by 16/15‘and ‘Op. 2‘. Both singles include 4-track recorded solo piano compositions which can be described as repetitive parts with atonal pieces. The fall of 2011 brings the release of ‘Songs for Cello, Piano, and a Train‘, an EP that will be available on 8″ record, cd, and digitally.

According to reports from the field, members of Crotchthrottle locked themselves in a bunker for five months to rehearse before recording their latest psych noise rock quasi-instrumental release, Everything Odder Than Everything Else. While no-one can be sure what happened in there, their supplies are rumored to have included seven crates of old issues of Creem and Reflex magazines, the collected writings of Lester Bangs and Richard Meltzer, five Kraftwerk albums, fifty cases of pasta sauce, and ten pounds of dill pickles. As usual, no band members could be reached for comment.

For Rhode Island followers of David Tessier’s former collaborations and output, Taurus presents the joyously familiar: this EP breathes new life into Pipeline Drive’s riff-fest. Catapult reminds us that there was a time in the 80’s when it was perfectly acceptable to marry heavy guitars, synths and crooning vocals. It is Release Me that stars, however, and suggests that Radiohead can retire now – Tessier has it covered with a strong dose of 70’s pomp and grace to spare. Taurus is a prime medley of Tessier’s talents, whetting the appetite for more. This is where you start.
